The under-eye area is complex and can vary considerably between individuals. Changes in facial structure, skin quality and volume can all influence the appearance of the area between the lower eyelid and cheek, commonly referred to as the tear trough.

The appearance of the under-eye and tear trough region can be influenced by:

• Cheek and mid-face structure

• Skin quality and thickness

• Natural ageing

• Facial asymmetry

 

Darkness or shadowing beneath the eyes can also have multiple causes, meaning a cosmetic procedure may not always be appropriate.

During consultation, Ellen assesses the relationship between the under-eye area, cheeks and surrounding facial structures.

The under-eye region requires careful assessment, and not everyone presenting with a tear trough concern will be suitable for a cosmetic procedure in this area.
